As someone that's been using the M4 Deco setup, its pretty good, We've got 3 in the main house with a 4th in the back garage, and while the one in the back garage does not get the same speed as the rest of the house, 50 mbit is solid for out there.

I have a 1000sqft house, but my wife's crafting business uses tens of thousands of 1 foot long steel wires with a random orientations(basically chaff). It really confuses wifi hardware. These were the devices I had in my amazon cart to solve the issue. The one thing I was wary of that was not visible in any official documentation was the number and placement of the ethernet ports. Now that I see that there are two per unit, I am going to buy them.

I cam vouch ofr these, 4 of these easily deal with 50 devices connected. Only issues: for backhaul lan so u dont use wifi speed to link the mesh, your switch must be a tplink, also, the ip range for the mesh is not the same as your router interface, so if you have pcs connected via lan from your router on 192.168.0.x, all devices climbing on the mesh is on another ip range and you cannot change it.

I've been rocking the Deco-M5 on my house for the past.... 2 years or so. Absolutely love them. Its the definitive solution to residential WiFi, i mean, as long as its not a mansion, but for the average 2 or 3 stories houses, they are perfect. Never they lock-up and best of all I can set hours of internet for specific devices (kids) and of course block sites and type of content with ease. I've recommended them to all my friends, its a Sub $160 USD solution that wont break the bank.

Part 1 of 2: Ok, Master Linus, what are your thoughts on the type of Mesh Network I set up in my home about 6 months ago. It is Linksys Velop Mesh Network with 3 nodes. I live in San Jose, CA, so my home is a modest 3,200 sq. Feet, front lawn is about 600/650 sq ft, plus 2-4 car driveway and backyard is about 1,750 sq. Feet. The nodes are connected via WiFi, I always have a full strength signal. Unfortunately, San Jose, of all places, in fact the entire Silicon Valley is WOEFULLY behind on Truly High Speed Interwebs. We have a 50 GB plan only because it cannot be throttled, while the 100 and 150 are almost alway throttled. A couple of unique features of my Linksys Velop Mesh Network: 1. It is designed to accommodate as many as 120 unique IP connections. 2. Each person connected to the interwebs is assigned a unique IP address from a library of, I believe either 10,000 or 100,000 unique IP’s it has in some data file. Thoughts?

well been using TP-Link product for years because of it's cheaper price compare to their rivalry but sadly their reliability is a problem, my last 2 usb wifi adapters and 2 routers that my network service provider provide which is also from TP-Link, it will doing great for 2 years then after 2 years period is reached, all the problem will haunt you down and make you replace that usb adapters and routers. Now I'm also using TP-Link PCie x1 wifi adapter. It seems like it's much more reliable than their usb version and for the router, forget about it, my family and I have been so haunted by their bad reliability we just avoid using the same brand. If my PCie x1 wifi adapter is also having problem after that, will avoid that too.

I love the TP-Link Deco X 20 mesh system I have installed with wired Ethernet backhaul in access point mode on my side of the house (mother-in-law suite). Have a Netgear Orbi RBR50/RBS50 WiFI 5 mesh network installed on the other side of the house with most devices directly connected via wired Ethernet that was installed in the house. I feel that for most normals the TP-Link X 20 mesh network is a great option. The one feature you did not talk about is under "Router Settings" the Network Optimization which again for normals is a great option. Only thing I did not like is that it does not seem to use the 100 to 166 section of the 5Gh spectrum. Wish list was that this was a WiFI 6e mesh system. That there was a true advanced section so you could manuel adjustment of the chanel under each spectrum. Thing is TP-Link made this a KISS device.

The most popular router and accesspoint combo in Germany has rather good mesh features build in. And the mesh is compatible with all repeaters, accesspoints and powerline devices from AVM. A Fritz.box is basically found in every home, or every second maybe but they definitely got the largest market share.

I don't know if they didn't have much time to have much explanation but the placement of mesh is a bit odd. And also why even on ethernet speeds are so low. With ethernet it should have been wired mesh network so that each mesh could easily provide upto gigabit capacity as shown at beginning of the video.

I'ts a need product, but it NEEDS a configuration page that dosen't require a mobile app I was once configuring two of thees deco routers, while the internet wasn't working (from the ISP side) but i still wanted to configure the decos. It was a place far away from town, (about 20km) and there were no signal, meaning I could NOT download that stupid app, so i had to go back another time (wasted time and fuel) so that i could configure them. they could just include a configure page, but no, it's just a page of a QR code, thats almost usles, because it's alredy on the box. Also, why do you need a tp-link account just for configuriing routers???

Frankly speaking... that's shit results. 1Gbps only on primary and then 130 Mbps on first satellite? As your office walls are basically empty (wood + drywall) the European brick/concrete walls would block the hell out of it. I was planning to go with the trio set for my new 120m2 apartment (1 side for primary, middle for NAS wired connection and then 3rd node in bedroom) but with that kind of performance... no thank you. The ghetto Aliexpress flat Ethernet wires which can be easily hidden will do much better job for fraction of the cost.

Isn't the speed lower due to you being far from it and the connection changing to 2.4ghz? My Deco setup is assembled in a 3 way. However, the main router connected to the network cable is central and each other device is in a zone of high speed internet connection where the 5ghz works. Therefore, I am able to get full speed all across my house. Unfortunately I do not have a gigabit connection to test. In fact I don't think there is any provider in Brazil selling gigabit connection. However, It works flawlessly with my 300 megabit connection. And my house is a single floor house with 5 bedrooms in a 400 square meters lot.

I have this X20 Deco mesh, it’s a fantastic bit of kit for like £220. Put your isp router in modem mode, connect the deco via Ethernet cable, download the app and it’s an easy set up. I have my oc upstairs, and I have a deco in my office, and I use a Ethernet cable straight into that deco, getting around 300 mbs. It’s an amazing bit of tech for the price, and you can add more decos if you need them.

Got the deco E4 to help with speeds and connectivity as we've a lot of smart devices computers, phones etc that were clogging up the network. It helped but not a ton. The speeds are improved but not as fast as they could be, upload seems fine but sometimes the switch from one deco the the next can be a little patchy and I have only ever been able to get 2 of them to work with WiFi backhaul. One redeeming feature is the app and setup is pretty easy. Over all not terrible but I'm my opinion it wasn't the £130 I paid for them.

What I don't like about these ones (I own a Deco S4 system) is that the main Deco, upon loosing internet connectivity with the ISP modem, it starts to look for another WAN connection in both LAN ports. Any switch/device connected to the second LAN port gets disconnected from the whole network until your ISP modem starts working again. I had to resort to put another router between the main Deco unit and the ISP modem just so this does not happens when the ISP is offline. We have a whole thread in TP-Link support for this. So far no firmware update to put one of the LAN ports to be the specific WAN port.

TP doesn't support router to router. They support router to access point or router to switch with their proprietary mesh program. WDS works for routers, but it's made to bridge a connection between two separate networks rather than extend wifi. After a number of router resets, you'll realize what a pain it is to try to install both routers with the same network settings on separate subnets just to lose the ability to access one that doesn't actually receive an internet connection. TP mentioned they were "working on it" years ago, but you can still find forums of people complaining that this should just be a feature accessible using mesh or similar router program. There really aren't many routers that can feasibly communicate between other routers without a bridge and two separate networks.

Got this running in a 15000 sqft house. 13 points on an Ethernet backbone. Speeds over 800mbps across the house.

I love the deco units for my home wifi with one exception they are missing so many advanced features and ones you would expect on a standard router which is very disappointing.

I have this same set up all wired back to a switch and get great WiFi performance in every room of my home now, there could be a bit more customization to them but I'm sure that will come over time with updates

well, im using Deco E4 (the cheapest and only support 10/100mbps) about a Year i guess, and surprisingly it's good and okay. Like, there's not so many different between using cable / Lan or Wifi. I kinda like it tho..

Been hoping LTT would do a TP Link Deco review for some time, it's a great product and nearly idiot proof interface. Could have been a bit more in depth but guess that's not what the sponsor paid for. Hopefully they'll do a more in depth look at the TP Link Omada system later on...

The most popular router and accesspoint combo in Germany has rather good mesh features build in. And the mesh is compatible with all repeaters, accesspoints and powerline devices from AVM. A Fritz.box is basically found in every home, or every second maybe but they definitely got the largest market share.

I know this is a SPONSORED video, but I’d love to see a video on ASUS’s AI mesh system that just uses whatever ASUS router you already have. Or a full mesh roundup (that includes the ASUS).

Cisco mesh wifi is very similar just a lot more expensive, pretty impressive for the price for wifi 6.

I've been setting up some of the lower tier deco systems for friends who are less tech savvy. The deco M5 dual AP kit is great for most homes - always hardwired together.

I have these. They look like toilet paper rolls. The tp makes it even better haha. I got it cause I have an office outbuilding. I ran cat5 underground. You can use mesh over ethernet

I’ve been running 3x Deco M9s through our house and they’ve been amazing with no issues, great performance and very simple setup. One thing you missed Linus is that unlike other APs and Wi-Fi extenders or boosters, these mesh networks play nicely with other Wi-Fi systems like Sonos. Sonos and other similar Wi-Fi networked systems don’t work at all, or intermittently on boosters or normal APs, but the Deco mesh network has been flawless. Small but important difference and the main reason I went for the Deco range

Been using tp-link deco s4 units for the last year, in a highly congested area, and am legitimately super impressed by the kit. They've been flawless thus far. I expanded my original 3 piece kit with another few units too and absolutely no discernable performance impact for normal use unlike my old wifi extender set up.

Wired I never see even close to 1mb down. Mostly I see 111 to 350kbps on good days so this ain't a thing for me. And no my options are what I have or starlink, and I don't trust Elon to not F that up. And cell service isn't even at 4g, I mean it takes several days to download a 60gig game

I used an Orbi 3 node. It mostly worked well for me. I've gone to two nodes of Unifi Wifi6 APs and am quite happy with this solution. But it doesn't include routing (I use a Netgate 2100), so not for everyone. I'm going to hard-wire the second node but it is working great right now with wireless uplink... Better than the three nodes of Orbi every did, I believe. And now I can put a Guest and IoT SSIDs on their own VLAN and isolate them away from my local LAN.

I personally like the TP Link Re450 Powerline + wifi. and since wifi is basiclly token ring. why not use a hub connection with is what powerline is.

Multiple access points isn’t that hard: 1. Connect them all with wired Ethernet 2. If using routers, disable the DHCP server on all except the main one 3. Make wifi settings the same: WPA2, CCMP, same passphrase, same SSID. Now clients will roam between them.
